Recap of July 2017 – Afternoon karaoke fun & Korean food dinner
For our July event on the 22nd, 16 courageous singers from YK decided to step onto the stage and sing their hearts out at this month’s karaoke event. Originally placed in a medium sized room, we got comfortable with each other’s harmonisation as we sang various songs from numerous genres. Not to mention, there were tears flowing from laughter from seeing people booty shaking and showing off their dance moves to Beyonce’s Single Ladies. We played hits from the 80s and 90s, new era music, and songs that just stir up a good memory from the past. Say hello to Queen, Spice Girls, Celine Dion, U2, and Madonna, just to name a few. Later on in the day, we split the group into two rooms – one filled with International songs and the other with English songs. It was wonderful to see YK members reminisce about the good ole days while singing tracks from their home country. Those five hours went by quickly, as our throats became super sore and hundreds of calories were lost from belting out our vocal cords. A nice warm milk tea will certainly soothe the throat and make you ready for the next one!

After our Karaoke session, we filled our empty bellies with Korean food at Bebu Soju Bar & Restaurant. We ate yummy main dishes, such as bibimbap, bulgogi, and japchae, while others decided to share a small platter of entrees, including tteokbokki, corn cheese, and kimchi pancake. The night ended with everyone immersed in conversation and enjoying each other’s company.

Special thanks to M for organising this month’s event! Thank you for your hard work in getting everyone together. Can’t wait until August for another fun-filled day!
