Color the Green was very well attended and we had close to 70 participants including the awesome friendly Thorne Harbour Health (THH) volunteers. Despite the super cold windy Melbourne weather it didn’t deter us from having fun.
The day started just after 12 noon and many people started to form into teams of 8~10 to learn and practice their lawn bowls skill (a first time experience for many!!), whilst others preferred to mingle in a smaller group over Giant Games such as Giant Jenga, Giant 4 in a row, Giant Cornhole etc. Scrumptious lunch was served from 1pm and included a variety ranging from vegetarian quiche, rice paper rolls, chicken strips, scallops, prawn spring rolls, wagyu burger and more, our tummy was very satisfied after a good feed J. There was a special belly dance performance, juggling act and prizes given throughout the day for winners of lawn bowls, dance competition and random raffle tickets draw, we heard presenters from AGMC, Drummond Street and our very own P from YK!!
The day ended with the classical musical chairs game and it was a very close competition and super entertaining session to watch. It was great to see everyone join in to support and have a good laugh.
We received many positive feedback and a number of the participants asked if there will be more of such community events in the future. This has been such a great collaboration in organising LGBTIQ multicultural community events and especially thanks to I & M for your hard work to make it so enjoyable for everyone.
Now I shall let the attached photos from Color the Green to do the talking ….
