Today (8 Jun) was one of the rare winter days – it was sunny and warm, the perfect weather to be outdoor. We had more than 30 members from both Yellowkitties and Shuttlecats choosing to come play indoor badminton at MSAC instead and seriously feline humans, you totally smashed it.

We played almost continuously for 2.5 hours, fun and at times pretty intense with friendly competition. A big thanks to S for briefing everyone on the court changes. The self-organisation was amazingly efficient, making the changeover looked so seamless and easy. A number of us stayed a little longer to watch the epic battle between the Lis and Y and KL– it was like watching an Olympic game – the only thing missing was some chips and beer!

Many of us headed to the George Hotel for dinner. We witnessed live Pantene advertisement on demand and chatted over great food. Still feeling like something was missing, the group headed to Bibelot for some serious sweets. I love the Jasmine and Lychee petits gateaux – so full of flavour and in harmony with the texture. The chai latte was probably one of the best I had in Melbourne. Hugely recommended. Ok, enough of the free advertisement (no commission received), the main thing was, everyone enjoyed their dessert and connections. It’s always nice to see newbies joining our events so welcome to F, B, E and K.

Lastly, thanks everyone for being a great sport and bringing your sunshine to the courts. Amazing work by Shuttlecats and S for the poster and ideas. This event won’t be possible without the grant from Lesbian Incorporated so huge thanks to our sponsor – they have been forever so supportive.

Watch this space for our next event- sketching coming out soon…
